Stars can’t shine without Darkness
Singing the dichotomy…(Poem)
I’ve been to the deep as unimaginable may seem to the outsider
I’m free…
pursuing something bright shining in stage lights
but it’s not easy pursuing a dream
and I’m pretty sure It’s not always meant to be.
The ‘real world’ says ‘give up, there’s no money in medley’,
the touring musicians say “this career choice has no longevity”.
the industry folk just seem to turn away…
the bill says “you need to make more pay” …
but lucky for me the beloved fans say…
“Please stay, keep going, your music saved me and I listen almost every day” …
And with these words I am free
I take a deep breath and closed eye breathe
Reminding myself I choose to be an artist….
and struggle I harness
so, I may be in a position to help other souls navigate this world
in which we're told
to live for the man and not for ourselves
to consume mind garbage one with a hard life camage…
and give up… on being…Ourselves…?
I’m not ashamed to say I’ve been to the depths of self-imposed defeat…
I’ve awakened to a new day where the sun looked black
I was in a dark space and I wholeheartedly never thought I’d find my way back…. to myself.
And yes, I’m tarnished
and yes, I’ve struggled to return to a body and soul that I’ve often discarded
and I still have teary-eyed days where I walk around guarded
and it’s been a long bumpy winding road to realize
that star can’t shine without darkness.
It was through the darkest of times I learned
we all have a distinctive path and room to grow
it’s one step at a time on this journey divine slow and steady wins the race
as you are building up your knowledge base.
I Mean, how blessed are we?
To share, embrace and experience the divinity
of what it means to be birthed on planet earth which is
A playground of opportunity
A dimension of the human community
A safe space to play hide and seek with Unity.
Se with this awareness may you wish on shooting stars
and wake up and work hard
because it’s not always easy pursuing a dream and in your hardest moments
when hope feels the farthest may I gently remind you to be your own life’s artist
for we are all stardust incarnate.
