“Your body is a temple in which your mind and soul reside”, a famous, yet very overlooked statement. Exercising has really changed my life and has helped me to learn a lot of things.

I have been known as the fat kid most of my life, and yeah, it is usually the base of every joke or mockery. I mean I get it, but you can only tolerate so much as a person. So it led to me going into a maze of self hate, which was very hard to deal with. But to every problem, there’s a solution, you just need to have the patience and will to find it.

Exercising and taking care of my body brought nothing but positive outcomes to me. At the start, of course, it was really hard trying to change my whole lifestyle to achieve what I wanted. But the harder I tried, the easier it got. They say, “If you want it bad enough you’ll find a reason. If you don’t, you’ll find an excuse”, and I had found my reason at that moment, so I started losing weight for my sister’s wedding. Running everyday and avoiding all sorts of junk food. I was just consistently grinding, and one day, I looked in the mirror and tried on some clothes, I had lost nearly 20kgs and I wasn’t even aware of it.

Ever since it’s just been like a drug, once you see a tinge of progress you get motivated. We should always strive for progress and success will come up by itself to your door — it is one of many things that exercising taught me. The positive energy you get after a workout, even if it is just a walk, it is truly unmatched.

It has really helped me battle through my mental struggles, it gives me a reason to like myself. All through the lockdown and through these damned online classes, exercising has kept me alive, and I’m not ever exaggerating.

So I do highly recommend everyone reading this to try, because there’s everything to gain and absolutely nothing to lose. And remember, the hardest step is to start.
